  • PLAYER LEVELS
  • EVENT TYPES
  • TOURNAMENT FORMATS

ACL Player skill levels are an important part of each and every event. Whether it's mixing skill levels at an event such as in a blind draw with random partners or if it's keeping each skill level separate at any event to ensure the most equal competiton.

Skill levels help players reach goals and milestones as they gain more skill, experience and growth within their own game. The ACL encourages each player to challenge themselves to graduate to the highest level of competition at every event.

HOW TO BECOME A PRO

CPI

The Cornhole Performance Index (CPI) is an ACL metric used to measure a player’s skill level across the league. Established players receive a CPI rating in their player profile once they’ve completed the minimum required number of events and rounds.

CPI helps group players into skill-based tiers at events, ensuring fair competition by matching players against others of similar ability.

The current national standard for Open events is outlined in the ACL CPI Guide. Please note that Club, Regional, and State Directors may adjust their tier levels to better suit their local player base.

NEW PLAYERS

If you’re new to the competitive cornhole scene, and still learning things like the proper throwing technique, which bags to use and how to read cornhole statistics, like CPI, it can feel a little overwhelming. Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered.

Start by checking out our Club List or using the Local Event Finder to get in on the action near you. While you’re eligible to compete at any event level, we recommend beginning with a Club-level event. It’s the best way to get familiar with the structure, pace, and nuances of competitive play.

Local bar leagues, special events, fundraisers, and invitational events are just a few of the different types of Local events that can be offered. Anyone can sign up to be a Club Director to host these events. The player's best Local finishes count towards ACL Open and ACL State Standings, depending on location (24=USA, 20=Canada & Europe). The American Cornhole League (ACL) is proud to be the premiere, leading league for the sport of cornhole. Each and every event is powered by ACL software which allows directors to run and manage players, stats and events. The software also allows each player to access their events and information, and much more. The software offers the following ACL points earning formats at any and all levels and event types.

SINGLE ELIMINATION

A single-elimination tournament is a type of elimination tournament in which a participant is no longer eligible to win the tournament's championship upon having lost one match.

DOUBLE ELIMINATION

A double-elimination tournament is a type of elimination tournament in which a participant ceases to be eligible to win the tournament's championship upon having lost two matches.

ACL STACK

A Stack format tournament is a type of elimination tournament in which a participant ceases to be eligible to win the tournament's championship upon having lost two matches but will continue to play in the tournament until a final placement has been secured. Once a player loses her/his second game, she/he is dropped into a lower stack and will continue to play matches in that Stack until she/he has a final standing. Unlike Single and Double elimination, there are no ties in the final standings of a Stack format.

ACL SWAP

ACL Swap is a round robin format where players are randomly assigned to a different doubles partner each round of the tournament. Players are ranked individually and the results are typically used to place players with a partner for a single or double elimination tournament.

ACL ROUNDERS

ACL Rounders is a progressive round robin format. Teams/players compete against a random opponent in the first round. In subsequent rounds, teams/players will compete against an opponent with a similar record to them (1-0 vs 1-0, 3-2 vs 3-2, etc.) Results from Rounders are typically used to place teams/players into a single or double elimination tournament and can be used to divide players/teams into various skill levels (Open format).

ACL ROUND ROBIN

A round robin style tournament is where teams/players play one another an equal number of times, accumulating wins/losses, total points scored and point differential against their opponents. Results from round robin are typically used to seed players and teams into an elimination style final bracket. Alternatively, round robin can be used for league play over the course of several weeks.

ACL TEAMS

ACL Teams allows groups of 3+ to compete against other teams in singles and doubles formats. Win a majority of the games within a match and your team wins!
